HOW WE DO IT
Your safari will commence with either myself or one of my representatives meeting and assisting you at OR Tambo International Airport on arrival. We feel it is important for a familiar face to support you from the get-go in getting yourself, your bow, rifles, and ammunition through customs as effortlessly as possible. We also have a collection of rifles that is available to hire should you decide not to travel with your own.
Our hunting concessions are about 3-to-4-hours’ drive from the airport and can either be done via road transfer or we can organize a charter flight on request. We have world class hunting- and outdoor retailers in Johannesburg and Pretoria and these can be visited on route should you need any extra gear for the safari.
All of our camps are fully equipped and fit for comfort with all of the necessary amenities that you will need for your safari. We understand the importance of effortless communication, therefore Wi-Fi is available in all of our camps should you choose to make use of it. Our kitchen offers gourmet South African meals which we are sure you will enjoy. Our menu can quite easily be adjusted to your dietary requirements if communicated in advance. Your daily rate includes 3 meals, snacks, local soft drinks, beer and wine in moderation as well as daily laundry services.
We suggest you pack the following items:
- Light weight cottons or linens in a natural colour (khaki, brown, taupe, olive green etc.)
- Long sleeved shirts and trousers.
- Hiking- or comfortable walking shoes and socks.
- Cold weather jacket, jersey, and tracksuit.
- Hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
- Binoculars, camera, and flashlight.
- Ammunition, ammo belt, knife, gaiters / leggings.
- Personal toiletries and insect repellent.
- Passport, airlines tickets, rifle import documentation, invitation letter and emergency contact details.
The hunting day starts early with fresh coffee and a small breakfast. Most of our rifle hunting is done on foot and our bow hunters have the option to walk and stalk or to sit in a hide. The pace of the safari is set by your fitness and physical capabilities. We are firm believers in fair chase ethical hunting that is done in the correct manner, so all stalks are done on foot.
Lunch is usually done in camp during the heat of the day or prepared in the bush depending on how far we are from camp. This is of course followed by a short nap before we hit the spoor again.
Dinner is set around the campfire with great food, excellent wine, and exciting stories of the hunt.
Get friends and family involved with your safari either before or after your hunt. We can quite easily assist in extending your stay in South Africa by arranging any pre- or post-safari expeditions you might like to take. Alternatively, you will be dropped off at OR Tambo International by either myself or a company representative before your flight back home.
Field preparations of trophies are done in camp and will be transported to a designated taxidermy (shipping agent). Clients will be put I touch with the designated taxidermy (shipping agent) to discuss their trophy requirements and arrange payment of their services.
